The second of the 'First Friday' lounge events at Owl's TiKi TaBu Lounge (upstairs in The Mercury Room), collaborating with DJ Vivienne. This evening she'd taken the early shift, leaving me to serve the late night crowd, sprawling into after-hours overtime. A garish and crowded little tiki bar, everyone in their lounge attire and game for ANYTHING. Exotica, Foreign language pop covers, Cocktail Jazz, Vaguely Vegas Lounge, Brazilian Bossa-Nova, Tittyshakers, Oddball Schlock and Novelty Numbers.

JAZZ. The Lux Ballroom was a venue for Big Band Jazz, Swing, Jazz and Pop Vocals. And more. 

Finely-aged vintage music from the 1930s, '40s, 50's and beyond.

This particular set was a bit shortened, following a live singer's performance that was impinged upon by technical difficulties and interweb fails. Still! Tunes were shared, fun was had, and all worked out just fine in the end. As is the norm ;)

DJ YoYo @ THEORY, 3.20.21 (moving day / spring equinox)

"YOU are invited to THEORY, another DJ event at our friend Fling’s lovely new club! We are celebrating the weekend, celebrating Spring Equinox, celebrating being together and being alive. Another fun & rambling, raucous and relaxing pile of music, as we hang out and dance under the trees, and babble near the brook… Bring a friend and see you soon!"

More big fun, with a fabulous group of 'invitation-only' attendees and their plus-ones & twos, flowing in. Rowdy, full o' beans. Another little  'warming-up' sequence of tunes toward the beginning of the set, getting rolling, checking the mic, getting settled in before the main event. As with all of my mixes here, everything I say in a mic break is less than half of the story. Asides from the group-chat text conversations happening throughout. A few song requests wrangled. References to the day everyone was having, including our club-owner/hostess Fling being enough of a maniac to schedule an online party at the end of her real-life day of moving house AND getting her new interwebs all set up. Success! - - All the way around.
